El Extra and elextratx.com are written and produced by a full-time award-winning bilingual staff. The weekly newspaper and website cover community news, sports, lifestyles, health, social happenings, entertainment, celebrity gossip, puzzles and horoscopes. In the social section, El Extra covers a calendar of local entertainment events, concerts, plays and art exhibits in the RGV as well as photos of weddings, quinceaneras, birthdays, business and social events, local columnists and food and drink recipes. El Extra is published every Friday and over 100,000 copies are carrier distributed and racked throughout the Rio Grande Valley, TX.

El Extra is not a typical “TMC”. Instead, El Extra targets very specific neighborhoods such as newly constructed subdivisions populated with first-time home buyers and well-established neighborhoods with older residents. This strategy combines young, bilingual households with stable time tested mature Spanish speaking households.
