Market
The Harlingen market has an estimated population of 74,950 and is 82% Hispanic. We are located 4 hours south of San Antonio and 3 hours north of Monterrey, Mexico. For many years Harlingen was known as an agriculture-driven economy, however today the health care and the call center categories are the growing industry. The Top 10 employers are in the medical field including the new South Texas VA Health Care Center and the Regional Academic Health Care Center. Companies tapping into Harlingen’s bilingual workforce are Dish Network, Time Warner, West Corporation and Advance Call Center Technologies. Financial institutions include IBC, Capitol One, BBVA Compass, Wells Fargo and Lone Star National Bank. Retail growth includes Burlington Coat Factory and SAM’s Club. They will join Bass Pro Shop at the entrance to the Rio Grande Valley in the fall of 2013.

Things to do:
Harlingen’s year around, semi-tropical weather and proximity to South Padre Island attracts Winter Texans and allows outdoor activities year around.
